| eHealth Implementation Levers for Adoption – Ontario Experience |
In 2005, Ontario, Canada’s largest Province kicked off it’s eHealth implementation to create an electronic patient health record, connect primary care practitioners with each other and with service providers, including the various levels of government, and to improve the journey of patients on unique journeys within the health care system. Cancer Care Ontario has become a major stakeholder in this initiative leading the way with health care wait times reduction, creating a business intelligence power house to equip both the government and practitioners with current information on their patients, sites, regions and clinicians and establishing leading edge programs to bring a manual industry into electronic capability improving patient safety and reducing the cost of health care provision. This session will focus on some of the key successes and lessons learned through CCO’s notable experience in eHealth. The PMO director has a unique perspective on the progress of this wide range of projects and programs. Implementation is only the first step. Improvements only come through facility and clinical adoption of these innovative solutions. This is an opportunity to share this perspective with others working in the same space or looking to motivate their stakeholders into success. |
