More often than not, the Construction Project Manager is thrown into the mix when it comes to estimating, both at the concept and bid phases of a project. Since the metrics for a green construction estimate are somewhat different than they are for the “standard” building project. Therefore it is up to the PM to make certain he knows what impacts typical green components can have on his estimate. Even if he or she is supported by an estimating department, in the end it will be up to the PM to make certain that every green component particular to the project has been accounted for.
What are those green components? How do I determine whether those components are applicable to my job or not? What information do I need from the architect, engineer or Facilities Manager to be certain my estimate is complete? What resource and reference materials are available to me?
This one-hour open forum is designed to answer these, and other, questions. From experience, it is anticipated that there will be numerous questions during the course of the hour and the open forum format is designed to give each of the participants the opportunity to ask questions specific to their jobs and localities. Handouts will provide additional resource and reference material for the participants to take away with them.
