Organizations need to develop their own mechanism for conducting formal “Lessons Learned” at the end of every project to ensure successful approaches can (and will) be repeated on subsequent projects, while factors that contributed to project failure are minimized.
A robust, well-developed framework will be presented for conducting successful, project Lessons Learned session(s) with modifications for internal only and/or external stakeholders based on recent large, complex IT projects from the healthcare industry in
1. The presenters will share a framework for conducting successful Lessons Learned at the completion of projects, including a template with enterprise acceptance criteria, categories, etc.
2. How to conduct the Lessons Learned session(s) including tips and techniques, ground rules, pros and cons of independent facilitation.
3. How to structure and create the Lessons Learned report (internal and external), gain approval of participants to provide business value. Do’s and don’ts on communicating this information up and out.
4. Close the circle, by looping back to project initiation to improve future project performance. Mandatory review of like processes, projects, etc.
