When Does a Project End?

Description: Municipal construction projects have difficultly closing, particularly when the client is internal operations. The life span is excessive and the project management team members are struggling with the transition to the building operator or owner.

In an effort to reduce the capital costs, many public organizations are choosing to disband with third party consultants to act as advocates for the organization on building projects. Using internal resources such as the project team leads and creating project offices. This trend emerging in local governments is succeeding in reducing costs however the lack of the traditional contract between owner and consultant is creating issues around project closure and acceptance.

We will review the essential elements required to plan for closure, audit the project, establish warranty periods and create an agreement that is mutually satisfying. This workshop will provide you with the tools needed and identify the project management processes to achieve successful transfer and acceptance from building operators and owners.
