Conducting Project Audits Description: A project audit offers an opportunity to uncover issues, concerns and challenges encountered during the execution of a project. It provides the project manager, project sponsor and project team with an interim view of what has gone well and what needs to be improved with the project to successfully complete it. The purpose of a project audit is also to identify what needs to be done to improve the performance of a project immediately, as well as corrective and preventative measures ensuring mistakes are not repeated in the project. Project teams are often concerned about the results of the audit and fear confidentiality will not be maintained as well as requiring more of their time. In order to obtain accurate results an outside facilitator is recommended to conduct the audit. However much can be done in preparation of the audit by the project team so that there is a level of comfort and the required data is readily available. This workshop will explore how a project audit will enable development of strategies, which if implemented within the organization, will increase the likelihood of future projects and change initiatives being managed successfully. Ultimately, the project audit will aid the ability for the project to be on?time, on?budget, meet customer needs and ensure transition to next phase is successfully executed.
